Product description

Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

Calendula is an annual plant that belong to the daisy family Asteraceae. The Reinsaat seed-blend contains yellow, orange and yellow-orange calendulas with light and dark centers. From light yellow to deep orange those flowers create a mix of fiery colors with each one being unique. They will add a spot of warm shades in your garden or balcony, and they will look great in a vase or a flower crown. But calendulas flowers have also many other uses. In herbal medicine, dried, whole or crushed flowers are used for tea infusions, tinctures, extracts or ointments. Flowers can also be eaten, and thanks to their intense colors, they are perfect as decorations for salads or cakes.
Calendula produce many flowers, which are loved by pollinators. At the beginning of flowering season, it is worth cutting off fading flowers to encourage the plant to produce new ones. Seed may be allowed to set at the end of the season. These will sow by themselves and please your eyes next season. When sowing, remember that Calendula seeds germinate in the light, so do not cover them with soil, but gently pat them into the ground.
