Cornflower "Black Ball" (Centaurea cyanus)
Black Ball cornflower, like the classic cornflower, is an annual plant with healing properties. The flowers of this variety are dark maroon or dark purple, almost black. These flowers will beautifully decorate the garden. Cut can be used in medicinal infusions, or simply in the cottagecore, country style bouquets, or as decorations for dishes in the form of confetti.
Cornflowers are sown into the ground from March to June, but you can also sow it in the fall and enjoy early flowering the following year. The flowering period is from mid-June to mid-October. Adult plants reach 50 to 70 centimetres in height. Faded flowers can be left until the seeds are set. They will sow by themselves, and in the next season they will grow into beautiful cornflowers. These plants like sunny to semi-shaded locations.
